The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
